About

Tory Dean

Underpinning my experience is a strong academic foundation. I completed my postgraduate training and Masters at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in London and am qualified as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working with children, young people and families. In practice this means being alongside a child or young person in a calm environment and building a relationship with them, giving them freedom to show and reflect on what is going on for them in their life, and thinking how we can start to understand and shift things.

I have several years’ experience of working therapeutically with children, and my training included placements with the NHS. Alongside my practice, I work as a school therapist and in a specialised setting with children affected by separation and divorce. I was also based in a SEN school for ten years, working with children and families experiencing the particular challenges that come with additional needs. I am able to communicate in simple Sign Supported English (SSE).

I am registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP). I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
